Paitin

── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──

2022 Paitin Langhe Freisa Bonina

The 2022 Freisa Bonina is a gorgeous, super-expressive wine. Rose petal, pine, dried herbs, crushed red berry fruit and orange peel are some of the many notes that open in the glass. I especially admire the energy and nuance here. Firm tannins will need a bit of time to soften, but this is quite promising.

Domaine de la Ferrandiere

── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
NV Ferrandière Méthode Traditionnelle Brut Blanc de Blanc Chardonnay

Methode Traditionnelle Chardonnay showcases a bright golden hue with fine, persistent bubbles. The aromatic bouquet reveals notes of green apple, pear, and citrus, accented by hints of brioche and toasted almond. On the palate, flavors of crisp apple, lemon zest, and white peach are beautifully balanced by a refreshing acidity and a creamy texture, leading to a lively and elegant finish.

Aegerter

── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──

2023 Aegerter Pinot Noir IGP

Hints of spice and vanilla play a supporting role to the cherry and raspberry fruit, while intricate herbal complexities wind in and out. It has nice soft, ripe mouthfeel and gentle tannins that deliver early drinkability and true Pinot Noir character at a reasonable price for the quality.

Scherrer

── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
2017 Scherrer Pinot Noir Hallberg Vineyard

The 2017 Pinot Noir Hallberg Vineyard is fabulous. Rich, pliant and super-expressive, the Hallberg is so satisfying. Plush contours and deep, layered fruit give the 2017 so much allure. Although the 2017 is incredibly appealing today, it also has the stuffing to age.

Roar

── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──

2021 Roar Pinot Noir Sierra Mar Vineyard Santa Lucia Highland

The 2021 Pinot Noir Sierra Mar Vineyard is a wild wine. Strong mineral and savory notes are front and center, while the fruit is more pushed into the background. This potent, driving Pinot will need a year or two to soften, but I expect it will always be rather forbidding.

Corica

── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
2022 Corcia Bourgogne Pinot Noir

The Corcia Bourgogne Pinot Noir has a crisp nose with cranberry, cherry, and wild strawberry scents. Bright and punchy on the palate, with terrific fruit presence and tons of immediate pleasure. Juicy dark cherry, tobacco, menthol and licorice follow up in this well-structured, exuberant, and racy Bourgogne.

Marchand-Tawse

── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──

2022 Marchand Tawse Bourgogne Rouge Cote d'Or Pinot Noir

The 2022 Bourgogne Côte d'Or, which comes from various appellations, has a tightly wound bouquet with blackberry and redcurrant scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, quite juicy with a slightly granular finish.
