High Quality with a Low Price Ratio
Behind the Cellar Door Imports is a company that imports and distributes fine wines produced by artisans. We have been in the wine business since 2007, and our goal is to find, import, and distribute wines that reflect the best possible combination of earth, vine, and weather. We work with wineries that respect the environment and the natural cycles of the land, and we offer wines that are high quality with a low price ratio.
We offer a wide range of wines from different regions of the world, such as France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, United States, and Argentina.
2021 Menguante Tempranillo
Dark ruby. Nice aromas of ripe red and blue fruits are energized by a white pepper flourish that flows across the palate as juicy and with raspberry and cherry flavors with hints of wood smoke and cola that show good depth and no rough edges on the long supple finish that features gentle, sweet, and slightly spicy tannins.
2021 Menguante Garnacha
Deep magenta. Spice-accented red berries and cherry with a hint of white pepper and minerals on the nose. Juicy and focused on the palate with hints of cherry, a touch of licorice on the plush and jammy palate that shows off a nice chocolate note on the back half. The spicy note repeats on the lively, gently tannic finish, which shows good persistence and appealing sweetness. These vines are reportedly between 60 and 150 years of age.
Vinedos y Bodegas Pablo is a family-owned winery that has a long wine making tradition in the region. The winery is located in Almonacid de la Sierra, at the foothills of Sierra del Moncayo.
The winery owns 80 hectares of vineyards, which are divided into 25 plots with different soil types, altitudes, and orientations. The vineyards are cultivated with organic and biodynamic practices, respecting the natural balance of the environment. The winery produces wines under the Menguante brand, which means "waning" in Spanish and refers to the lunar phases that influence the vine growth and the wine making process.
The red Menguante wines are made from native grape varieties, such as Garnacha and Tempranillo which are adapted to the harsh climate and the poor soils of the region. The wines are fermented with natural yeasts and aged in oak barrels. The wines are characterized by their intensity, complexity, and expression of the terroir.
